Received this incredible catalog of protest posters from an exhibition by the Center for the Study of Political Graphics in Culver City, California. The exhibition was titled ‘To Protect & Serve? Five Decades of Posters Protesting Police Violence’ and my No Justice, No Peace poster was included. It’s an amazing testament to international efforts to challenge police brutality, but also heartbreaking and frustrating. It features graphics created from the last 50 years, addressing policing as political oppression, racial and gender profiling, the school-to-prison pipeline, immigration raids, militarization of law enforcement and organizing resistance. To Protect & Serve? continues the CSPG’s mission to reclaim the power of art to educate, agitate and inspire people to action.
